Looking to build a new PC, I have never built 1 before and have no idea what im doing. I was just playing around on some custom build sites. Im sure this is a crap build, but I wanted to know what i should change, what I need or dont need. This is strictly for gaming only. I would like this to be future proof for at least a couple years, and how easy it would be to upgrade componets.
This is in Canadian price.

edit- ok, after doing some research, I think I need to go ditch the 6850k and go with a 7700k.
So forget about the 6850k. Now I have a new question. Should i wait till the new CPU's come out? Like the new I7/I9 cpus. I dont know what to do.....

Oh and my resolution for now is still gonna be 1080P, but I will be going higher a bit later.

thanx for any advice and help.

So this is enough for 4k ,if you can afford with the money left a monitor like acer predator or something similar 3440x1440 or 2560-1440 or even 3840-2560 you can rock :).

I thinks this build will be perfect for you even for future gaming , tasking and what ever you want.So only thing yo ucan add in the future is better monitor and more ram but 16 is enough at this time.Im sure this is enough to play games in the next years on ultra with high fps so if you have 144 hz monitor or 200 so you can feel the smooth gameplay and I am sure you will be very happy with this build. I'm going for the same build just with bit more ram :).

you don't need threadripper first he has issues as I read with the l3 and more so i i9 issues is the termal paste which is only issue if you overclock but you don't need because it works on 4,5 ghz so it will be good enough even 10 cores are more than enough so 18 are just stupid if you don't use it as a workstation ,server and more stuffs like this so , i9 7900x is perfect for gaming and tasks , threadripper is more for multitasking and servers.

i will not let him buy the stupid 7700k really it will be the end of this processor in the next few years better let him buy a i7 7820X with 8 cores instead of this shit 7700k, he will be 500 $ down of the price even 700 so he can buy x predator 3440x1440

For this price you can get:

Intel i9 7900x - 1200$ or i7 7820x 8 cores for about 700$ and you can buy with the money left a monitor 4k so even 34 inch monitor im using x35 predator and I can say its worth so just don't buy i7 7700k really.

what Mustafa you have 0 knowledge really , as I said its for multi tasking and gaming yes I don't know why he has to buy 7700k when in bf 1 it on nearly on maximum usage on higher resolution so he cant do anything else when he can buiy a i7 7820x 8 cores or i9 and he can handle everything in the future , because soon 4 cores will die as you see its not enough for more than a game on the same time , so for his build I would buy 7820x 8 cores so I will save 500$ more and buy x34 monitor 3440x1440 no the stupid 27 inches really , so i9 is if he has a good monitor already he can afford it. And again 7700k is not impressive and even ryzen if you see with 8 cores in game like bf 1 high resolution is working on 100% nearly when ryzen is working on 60% so why should he buy something which already is on the limit ? when he can afford for some bit more dollars a 8 cores better performance and THE MEMORY (RAM) IS WORKIGN FASTER ON 7820x

Mustafa you can see he has a budget of nearly 3800 so read first then use your argument, I put him nearly the best parts he can ever find, this processor is a beast and and it works faster with the memory of the other i9 , only maybe 1080ti is nothing new like technology so its better to wait for Volta but if he won't wait it still be the best GPU he can find for gaming.

Really ? have you seen some benchmarks , threaripper is for low budget, i9 still times better and he has bigger budget so even i7 7820x is better

I9 is a bit more expensive , second I told him to buy i7 7820x which is perfect for gaming and even for multitasking , 8 cores 16 threads , he doesn't need more its more than perfect, threadripper is not for gaming and second its not better :). And again its not better.

Again how little you know about TR. The 12core/24thread 1920X (not the 16core/32thread for $899-999) is close enough to same price to be a better overall value. The future of gaming is going to lean more core count than clocks, some games already made the switch. That is Intels only claim to gaming, great single core/thread performance. The i9 16 cores arent even close to market yet where as Threadripper is out in 2 days.

[Note: trying not to sound like a fanboy, I value pricing most of all.)

Yea I agree with you more now , just you have to say which exactly threadripper its like to say i9 but which one there is big difference and yes I agree that games needs more cores and logical cores but I still think the gaming is needing strong single core performance and multicore as well let say they are similar just depends of the person what he likes more, the difference isn't big its probably some small between i7 7820x or i9 7900x and the threadripper equal to it , saying for performance in gaming and even tasks even when treadripper is having more cores still we talk about performance. So we can both talk which is better but the performance is nearly the same , he cant use 12 cores and 24 threads for one game or even 5 and multitasking, also if he use intel 8 cores will be the same , so just let him choose the best they are nearly the same just of personal choice.

Thank you skibo it was nice conversation and I respect that you are thinking correctly you prove that threadripper isn't bad as I was talking and yes probably you know more for it just intel has better benchmark tests in some areas but threadripper has also in others areas so its nearly the same even as performance :)

Thank you too. I do think that eventually gamers will be building systems based on what game(s) they play. There will be those that need single thread performance and those that need core counts, although core counts will still be weighed as deciding factors. I also think we are into a new era and CPU contest because of Threadripper. Intel will come up with something bigger and badder than i9.

/salute

edit: pricing confirmed $799 and $999.

Yea agree fully with you they both not for gaming yet but in the near future maybe :) , It's just personal opinion which makes him feel more comfortable. And yes Intel are going for 8th gen soon they said they will reach nearly 30% better performance , if its true , It is gonna be interesting year :)

Cheers
