I would hazard a guess and say 2-3+ years on up to date AAA games. But depending on WHICH games, you will be playing, it is a case of how long is a piece of string! I have kept upgrading my old rig, and its now 9 years old! But it depends which games i play on it, as the more recent AAA games tend to be very CPU dependent, and mine struggles.

You may not need to upgrade that quick, i think you would be fine. Have a look at the specs for the games you wish to play, and make a judgement. Also, once you have the system, see how it performs, that would be the acid test.
