Hello! I have a few questions , basically I am trying to do a system "revamp" ,
new cpu,motherboard,ram and gpu.

My current rig :
i7-3770k @ 3.9ghz
Gigabyte z68x ud3 b3
8gb of crucial ballistix ram @ 1600mhz (ddr3)
GTX 760 MSI OC 2GB
cx550 psu

And i was planning , to replace the cpu with i3-7350k (also is it base clock 4.2 or boost clock 4.2?)
the mobo with either
GIGABYTE GA-B250-HD3P or
ASUS PRIME B250-PRO

and some DDR4 2133 mhz corsair ram , 2x4.

But how do the cpu's match up? Which is better , the i3-7350k i7-3770k , im not that big on budget cpus , so I could really use some help from more experienced people. Thanks!

Also how much would my current cpu 3770k , and my current mobo z68x ud3 b3 (combo i guess)
Go for? They are both in good condition , don't have the original boxes however.

Thanks!

They are roughly the same performance based on benchmarks: http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-3770K-vs-Intel-Core-i3-7350K/1317vs3889. However, you are giving up the 2 cores, 4 threads, and 4MB of cache of your i7 (multi-core speed) for a slightly faster single-core speed and 14nm architecture of the i3.

In short, I'd say it's not worth the revamp as you'll go all the trouble of selling your current CPU, MB, RAM and the hassle of buying, installing the new parts (and the OS) with no significant performance increase.

Coming from an i7-3770K, you should be looking at an i7-7700K (if you prefer the new-gen Intel platform, http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-3770K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-7700K/1317vs3647) or the Ryzen 5 1600/X or Ryzen 7 1700 (if you are opening to migrating to an AMD platform, http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-3770K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-1700/1317vs3917).

I would not throw a i7 3770K aside for an i3 7340K, especially if your gaming. You'd lose two cores and four threads which are really starting to count on the gaming front. I might try to push your i7 3770K a little faster (4.2-4.5ghz should be doable with proper cooling...something else you may or may not want to upgrade). Also I also might consider getting some DDR3 2133mhz ram @16GB as your motherboard supports it and while it does require a overclock on the memory controller your CPU should cope just fine. The extra capacity and speed should buy you some future proofing as well (3+ years for gaming more for everything else). The thing I would replace for sure if your gaming is your GPU. Something like the GTX 1060 or better (no your CPU will not bottleneck any current GPU). Also the CX550 PSU aren't the best around, you might think of replacing it. Doing all of this would be cheaper then a platform upgrade to a worse CPU, generally speaking.

The only other thing is go for a full upgrade to Ryzen 6C/12T cpus or better or Intel i7 6C/12T cpu or better.

The main reason i am upgrading is because of the crap motherboard , it is LGA1155 And there are barely any motherboards like that , and since i only game , i doubt i need the extra spces 3770k offers, since i've already made a decision for everything but the cpu , so my only budget is the cpu atm ,
I picked a gtx 1080 strix edition , the ASUS PRIME B250-PRO and i ended up going with 2x8 corsair ram.
So should i consider buying an used i5/i7 skylake/kaby lake or think of smth else?

Also i want intel 100% , i just don't like AMD , i never liked it (not for the overheating hate). I've just used intel all my life , i'd stick with that.

If you already bought the Asus Prime B250-Pro, then, overclocking is out of the question (so is getting an unlocked CPU and a high-speed RAM). Your only remaining choices would be: an Intel i5-7500 (or Intel i5-7600, depending on price difference), or an Intel i7-7700. For RAM, the max. speed you can get is 2400MHz.

Games nowadays use more than a single core, so, getting a powerful 4-core CPU rather than 2-core would still be beneficial.

I have built more AMD rigs then Intel and can say AMD has great CPU products (minus bulldozer/excavator CPU cores). That said I currently run an Intel on all the rigs in my house and nvidia GPUs though that is likely to change with Threadripper launching soon (at least on the CPU side of things). However I get having a preference with a particular vendor. The reason I prefer Nvidia is I don't like AMDs drivers for their GPUs. When it was ATI things were fine but for me the drivers have been crap since, generally.

Anyways if your dead set on Intel and a gamer the bare minimum you want for a cpu is a 4C/8T part (i7 7700K?)...ideally 6C/12T (i7 6800K+/i7 7800X+). i5s had a great run but 4C/4T (not mention 2C/4T) CPUs have come to an end. I am helping a few people a week with bottlenecking issues using i5 or less CPUs...every week since about September 2016. BF1, Ghost Recon Wildlands, The Division, Witcher 3, GTA V will use 8+ threads. This trend will only grow. Even games like Rise of the Tomb Raider uses every single thread my i7 3930K @4.2 ghz with 6C/12T at roughly 40% when 60hz/FPS and nearly 60% when uncapped with 2 GTX 1080s in SLI for gaming at 4K. Point being You should aim higher on the thread count.

So.... basically , i either keep my current cpu , or buy another i7 ? (since choosing AMD is the last thing i would do.)
So technically , the smartest thing right now for me to do is upgrade my cooler (for more overclocking) , ram and gpu?

Pretty much...or wait til august for coffee lake.

Get a Z270-chipset motherboard, not a B250. Pair that with an i7-7700K + an aftermarket CPU cooler (e.g., Cryorig H7 or H5).

Well since my current gaming rig (mostly because of the gtx 760 and it being 2gb) can barely run watch dogs 2 on medium without overheating & crashing the driver.. It can handle most games on medium but the newer ones it cannot. I'd upgrade gpu first before anything.

I cancelled all my orders for now. Maybe get a gtx 1060/1070 instead of the 1080 to get more money on anything else.

TBH i don't even know what games i will be playing atm , CS:GO for sure and most likely battlefield.

I have a 1050p monitor atm , im gonna buy a 1080p most likely or is there not that much of a difference between 1050p and 1080p? 16:10 vs 16:9 i guess.

How much do 760 2gb's go for these days? Estonian sites don't even sell them.

If your going with 1080P and you don't crank up every setting and filtering/AA to 16x by 8x, then a GTX 1060 would be fine. If you do crank up the settings with 16x by 8 x filtering to AA or want to use 144hz then a GTX 1070 might be better. If you can 1440P is nice at which point you want a GTX 1070 or better, again if you crank up settings, filtering and AA.
