Hi. I have Windows 10 and I want to install windows 7 on my laptop Acer aspire e 15. I have to install it with USB stick because on my Acer I don't have CD driver. I've done everything and now I need to boot from USB. When laptop starts I press F12 and I get only 1 boot option - Windows boot manager. I tried everything, nothing works.
I am installing windows 7 ultimate x64.

And I forgot to say this, I turn on legacy bios and then is showed me USB in boot menu, but later when I tried to format C driver it showed me that selected disk is of the GPT partition style.

Solution

Can you get into the BIOS and change from UEFI to either UEFI + Legacy boot or straight up Legacy boot? That would allow you to disable secure boot since Legacy boot doesn't support secure boot.

As for the GPT - don't worry about that yet, we just have to get you booting to the USB first.

If you used the MS download / usb tool, that should work.

What software did you use to burn the ISO to the USB boot drive? You can't just copy the ISO to the drive.

I would suggest YUMI to create a multi-boot drive - they're quite handy. I have Linux tools (gparted/clonezilla) along with my win7 32/64b/home-ultimate setups.

Also - make sure you're ONLY using the USB drive in a USB 2.0 port. I've run into problems before using the 3.0 port.

I used Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool. And does my Laptop have 2.0 USB port ? It has 3 USB ports, which one is the 2.0 ??

so you used the right tool to load it onto the USB so now the big question is where did you get the windows 7 ISO file?

That's the problem I can't disable secure boot. It doesn't give me to select it.

I can select Legacy boot. Now on the boot menu I see the USB HDD.

then it must be your copy of windows 7 that's the problem where ever you got it from.

i also looked up your laptop model and it originally comes with windows 10 so make sure you are able to get drivers for it if you are able to successfully install it

Ok - now, does the USB actually -boot- into the installer? If it does, you should be able to take care of it. Make sure you're going to install win7 64bit - I believe you'll run into issues with the win7 32bit version since the HDD is a GPT type partition setup.

Let us know how it goes.
