How big is the difference between the i3-7100u and the i5-7200u?

I'm planning on buying a laptop for university in september. I will mainly be doing coding and I have a budget of 400-550 pounds (£).

I know that an i3 is slower compared to an i5, but by how much? and will it significantly slow down the laptop speed in general?

i3 laptop
i5 laptop


Also I would appreciate if a couple of laptops are suggested, huge thanks

The link to the i3 laptop didn't work for me.

When buying a basic Windows 10 laptop, I suggest the following:

  • ■ don't go less than 6 GB of RAM. 8 GB is even better
    ■ I would pay to get the i5 over the i3, as long as it's not too much more
    ■ ignore the capacity of any HDD. You will be replacing it with an SSD at the first opportunity. Some laptops have SSD as an option, but it is often very expensive compared to upgrading it yourself.
