I have an A10-5800K. I want to get a X4 860K.

Cpuboss rates the 860K a 6.2 vs 5.6 for the 5800K.

5800K has a higher stock speed and higher turbo. Both have same 4MB L2 cache.

The logical explanation must be FM2 vs FM2+.

Am I correct to assume that the extra FM2+ instructions: AVX, BMI1, FMA3, SSE3 and TBM are what put the 860K above the 5800K?

Solution
It's not really worth upgrading the CPU in your system, put the money towards something else, or a full replacement of the CPU and motherboard to an Intel platform or the new AMD Ryzen.

I agree. It's not worth upgrading.
But I'm doing it anyway. I do it for fun, not any practicality to it.

I actually picked the 870K for $7 more.

I know I only get about a 5% increase in performance, and I won't really see a difference.
Not ready to upgrade to new platform yet, so sticking with the small stuff.
Gonna overclock it a whopping 100 MHz and run it at 4GHz.
I'm curious to see if it resolves a small graphical glitch I'm seeing in Witcher 3
