My current setup:
Motherboard: M5A99FX PRO 2.0
CPU: AMD 8350
GPU(s): Crossfire R9 290x Tri-OC
PSU: 850w
RAM: 16gb 1800 ddr3
My issue has been with Overwatch. I utilize freesync on a 144hz monitor and would like to get steady framerate of 142 fps in order to get the fastest frame rate with no screen tearing. I would think that this would be sufficient enough GPU power to obtain that value, but I am getting 60-100fps. Sometimes I will get 130, but it will fluctuate down very quickly and give stutter in my screen.
Another issue is I believe one of the dimm slots in my motherboard is not and has never worked. I have two 8gb sticks I’ve inserted and I only ever get 8gb total ram. I returned the first pair of ram sticks and got another pair, but the same thing with only 8gb total is occurring.
Could the ram issue indicate I have a bad MOBO?
Is my GPU really not strong enough to push 1440p Overwatch with the lowest settings and 75% render up to 140 fps?
Should I just get a 1080 and relieve all of my
stress?
