Hello,

I have an HP Pavilion 500-037c Desktop PC (h5q07aar#aba) that has a dead motherboard. I am unsure of whether or not that also means that my A10 processor chip is done. My questions are:

1) Can you suggest an alternative MB that will be a drop in fit in the case that I have with all of the other stock hardware? Including the A10 chip which I want to reuse.

2) Is there an easy way to test the chip prior to getting a new MB? and if not, what would happen if the chip is dead and I put it into the new MB?

Considerations: I am not using this computer for gaming or anything intensive. It is solely for browsing internet, emails, and the odd youtube video. Don't want to break the bank and get something amazing and don't need to worry about future upgrades since this is a secondary computer not my main one. I just can't justify getting a whole new computer for what I use it for.

Thanks for the reply! Looking at it I have a few questions. What exactly do you look for in a compatible motherboard? Obviously the socket has to match and it physically has to fit in your case. But other than that, what specs do I absolutely have to match in a replacement?

What's the difference between FM2 and FM2+

Slightly confused by the second link. The table references chips but what exactly is it supposed to be showing me? Just a warning about onboard graphics?

Thanks again
