AMD Vega Frontier Edition Help

Hello,

I have got a computer which I run analysis on, The computer already has a AMD Pro Duo card installed. I have recently bought the AMD Vega Frontier Edition to work alongside it. I dont want it to be in crossfire, I just want the cards to run two different analysis.

I have got as far as installing one driver and then I can't install the other. Therefore my analysis software doesn't pick up the card. Is there a way I can install two different drivers on one PC?

What operating system are you using? Also, what analysis tool?

Vega uses a different driver set than Pro Duo (both the older and newer versions). Have you tried loading one of the drivers manually (as opposed to running via the installer)?

Thank you so much for helping me out. I am running Windows 10 64bit, the analysis tool is custom built, there is a option where I can select which graphics card I can use. On my other computer I can choose whether I want to use the Nvidia card or the AMD card.

I have tried to install the drivers manually, but it downloads some software called crimson. So when I try to install the second graphics card driver it says there is already AMD drivers installed (obviously for the other card)

Do have the Vega drivers downloaded and expanded in the AMD folder (assuming that you have the Pro Duo drivers working now)?

I currently have the Vega working with the Vega drivers. I had to uninstall the Pro Duo drivers so I could install them.

Try this:

Installing the new drivers (this first part should be done already as you were using those drivers previously):

Run the AMD driver installer and you should get an option to extract the files to a destination. Choose anywhere you wish, but keep this location in mind. Once the files have been extracted, the installer will try to install the driver. If it works, you can stop reading here, if not you can continue.

Go back to Device manager and expand the "AMD" device that should be under the "Display Adapters" as before. Right click it and choose "Update Driver Software…" and then "Browse my computer for driver software." You should get another menu, *do not* press "Browse" and instead press "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer." At the bottom right, select “Have Disk…” and then "Browse…" – go to the folder which you extracted the AMD drivers to.

You should see the folder “Packages,” open it. Then browse to "Drivers," “Display.” You may a list of folders with "_INF” at the end of their names. The folder with the larger name is the 64-bit driver and the file with the shorter name is the 32-bit driver. Depending on your OS architecture, open the folder that relates to what you have (if you only see one folder, use that one). Then you should get a list of files, look for the first one that has an “.inf” extension and select it. Then back at the prompt select “OK” and the driver should install on your computer.

If the driver still does not install, your operating system may not be compatible with the driver and thus Windows will still refuse to load the driver. In this case you should run Windows Update to get whatever driver is currently available for your computer.

I have given up on this, I think it is something to do with the architecture. The computer is on a company network so we are only allowed to have a certain version of windows. I have put in two Vegas and the graphic cards seem to be working fine. I am just going to have to find a somewhere to place the two water-cooled Pro Duo cards.
