Dear Community.
I'm standing between two really good graphics card but I don't know which one to pick.
Here in Sweden we have outlet on the Gtx 900 series so I pick up a Gtx 970 for the same prize as
a Gtx 1060 3gb and if I add another 500kr (close to 50euro) i can afford a Gtx 1060 6gb.

So my question is should i spend the extra money to get a 1060 6gb or should i chose between the 970 or 1060 3gb. All the graphics card is also first hand purchases.

Thanks in advance.

In that case, I'd pay the extra 50 EUR and take the GTX 1060 6GB. I wouldn't buy a GPU with less than 4GB of VRAM today.

The GTX 970 has been with us for nearly three years and, just like the GTX 7xx series, Nvidia will stop optimising their drivers and you'll be left wondering why your GTX 970 can't outmatch a GTX 1050, despite the former being more powerful on paper.

the 1060 6gb performs around 5% better than the 3GB in every day use, and 'should' perform 10% better if you pushing very high/ultra games.
% in fps btw. so as an example (not true to life): running overwatch in high on the 6GB = 100fps, then the 3GB would be running the same setup at about 95 fps. thats 5%. But the same game on ultra .... 6Gb might push 60fps and the 3Gb would be pushing 50 fps, thats 10%.

so that $50 worth it for you? dont even look at a 970 imo.

But Why is the 970 worse if I can get it for the same price as the 3gb version. I've seen reviews about the Gtx 970 performing better than the Gtx 1060 3gb. Is the 970 that bad?

As someone running a 780 3gb @ 1080p I wouldn't buy a 3gb card in 2017. I have several games where if I turn settings up I can still get decent fps but my VRAM usage can hit 3gb and I suffer instant stuttering. It's easy to fix by dropping settings but it's clearly a limiting factor in some games, this will only get worse in the future.

Ok So the Gtx 970 should be a better choice? cuz it has 3.5 + 0.5 gb?
