Hi
HP Pavilion 500-164
AMD Quad Core
A8-6500
8GB RAM
onboard graphics AMD Radeon HD 8570D
Win8.1
64bit
I installed a new GPU. GIGABYTE Radeon RX 560 Gaming OC 2GB. Installed new PSU: EVGA 450W. I plugged in 6 pin power cable, monitor is plugged into new card, HDMI.
Uninstalled onboard graphics, installed AMD Win8.1 64bit Radeon crimson relive 17.7.1 driver. And various other drivers in later attempts. Sometimes it found new hardware, sometimes the same driver did not.
New GPU is not in device manager. Display Adapters says Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. Same thing in dxdiag, display. I never got it to show up in dev manager.
I updated BIOS, set it to Legacy.
I had a display at first, thru HDMI on GPU. Later I got a light gray screen at boot followed by colored lines. Signed in, I could barely make out icons and stuff when I moved the mouse.
BIOS was already set to "disable" on integrated video. If I *enable* that, then the next time I can choose "ATI VGA controller- primary VGA device", (instead of "onboard VGA controller") but it still doesn't work. There is no way to select a PCI-e card in my BIOS.
I don't know what to do. Is it a bad card? Thanks!
