I've been helping my friend on his first build, and he accidentally put on too much thermal grease. This caused some to get on the cpu, cpu socket, and on the mobo. We have the 90% isopropyl and a soft toothbrush, but I wanted to know a few things. Is it safe to use it on the CPU socket and if some gets on the under of the cpu is it safe to clean?

Whatever you do though, don't take the CPU out of the socket and try to clean the pins of an intel board, you WILL damage them and they are nearly impossible to fix, even by professionals.
