so i built this PC few years ago and mostly use it for photoshop. lately, i've been noticing that it has become fairly slow. takes about a minute to start up photoshop and it's very laggy sometimes. if it's helpful, i'm using the free version of AVG anti-virus.

OS: Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 730
Storage: 1 TB
Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 @ 3.60 GHz
RAM: 8.00 GB

Solution
Open task manager, click "more details", and click "memory usage" when running through your daily tasks. If your memory reaches ~90%, you probably need more ram. Post the Photo of the first 5 processes into this. If memory usage never reaches near that, click CPU usage and do the same thing. The other possibility is that your disk is cluttered, in which case you may want to install ccleaner free .
Over the course of a few years, most people inadvertently get 20-30 extra processes running, all of which consume a small amount of CPU and memory resources....

Open task manager/startup and disable everything not actually being used; for instance, most folks don't need Teamviewer, DropBox, GOogleDrive, OneDrive, Steam, Origin or Bethesda Game Launchers, etc., running while working with Photoshop....

Once all that is done, see what your available memory and CPU utilization rate sits at...

THen run CCleaner, clean out the junk and temp files, and reboot, see if there is any noticeable difference....
