My computer freezes randomly. It can be while gaming, or even just browsing or something that does not require much power.

The screen and applications are frozen, and move cursor cannot be moved. If I open the computer, I see that everything is still working (cpu, fan..). I always have to turn it off manually and then restart it again.

My configuration is:

AMD FX-6300
Vishera 32nm Technology
RAM: 8,00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28)
Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 (CPUSocket)
3072MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 200 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner)
XFX PRO 550W

This is what I’ve tried to do:

Antivirus, nothing to show.
Changed plug and socket, nothing.
I stressed the CPU at 100% for hours and nothing happened.
Temperatures are always ok.
Drivers are installed and up to date.
I’ve reinstalled my operating system so many times, even tried with seven, 8.1.. now I’m with windows 10 and nothing has changed, it keeps freezing.
I’ve updated the BIOS, I’ve tried with BIOS default and nothing.
I did Memtest86 for the ram and it didn’t show any errors. I’ve tried with only one ram, only the other, changed slots… nothing. I’ve tried with other ram too and it freezes as usual.
Crystaldiskinfo says that my HDD is good. I’ve also used the Western Digital programme, did an extended test and nothing showed up.

The other day I’ve bought another HDD, and I’ve tried to install Windows 10 on it.

The computer freezed during the operating system installation itself!!!!

This really makes me think that it is an hardware problem more than a software one, but I can’t even identify WHAT part of it can cause the problem because everything seems fine, except it always freezes.

I’m desperate and I really appreciate any advice you can give me to understand which part may be malfunctioning. I want to understand where the problem is but I’ve already tried everything I know.
Thank you

If I had to guess, I would say you have a motherboard problem. Just reading the reviews of this board on NewEgg, it seems like this particular board has some issues. One guy said his board even caught on fire! I would say your system is past due for an upgrade.
