Installed new h100i v2 and temps went really high

Hello, I just installed my new h100i v2 into my computer but the temps went really high on idle but to be honest I didn't have any thermal paste laying around so I used the one already applied to my cpu. But I notice when I turned my pc on it said no cpu fan detected and temps went really high to 70* before I turn it off to avoid damage. I've bought new thermal pastes won't arrive till tomorrow but I won't to know if it is the thermal paste or the pump isn't working. I've currently install the cooler but usually you hear the pump but I can't

I'd think the radiator must not be seated firmly on the CPU. I've seen this back in the Z77 days where some mobos were thinner than others so washers needed to be added to the screws behind the mobo so more pressure was applied to the socket, but not with more recent mobos.

What kind of motherboard do you have and which fan connector did you connect the pump to? If you jump in to the BIOS, does that fan connector show any RPMs under the "monitor" section? That will tell you if the pump is running.

The led is working and I have a Asus h81 gamer lga 1150. The I start the pc is says CPU fan error and then jumps into bios and theirs a fan going 1600+ rpm in the bios.

Hmm, I'm assuming you meant the thermal paste already on the Corsair Cooler, not the CPU, because the CPU doesn't have thermal paste on it.
The CPU fan not being detected means you didn't plug in the little cable that's coming off the heatsink that you attached to the CPU to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard.
The rising temps makes me think the pump isn't working, hence the error message. It not being plugged in would make it not work.
Or you didn't install the cooler right at all.

I found out that CPU error only happens on asus motherboards and I plug the corsair power connecter into the cpu fan where is said to put it. I'm sure that I've install the cooler properly
