I remain confused. I used Asus router to assign a manual ip address 192.168.1.78 to my new ip camera hoping that it will be allocated static forever to the ipcam MAC. For weeks the address remained same, i could access the cam nicely.
Recently i reboot (power up down) the camera. The camera ip address was changed to 192.168.1.130, probably DHCP dish out. The surprising thing was that the manual assign table still shows 192.168.1.78 bind to the ip cam MAc address. I clicked "app!y", but the 192.168.1.78 does not link to the cam any more. In fact the entire clients active list dont even hv any record of device with address 192.168.1.78...

a Static IP is configured directly in the camera and should be outside the router's DHCP range.

a manual IP is usually part of the DHCP range and then assigned to the device inside the router.
