So, I just bought a GTX 1080 recently and compared the FPS difference in certain games like Overwatch, League of Legends, Playerunknowns Battelgrounds and also Unigine Heaven

The results were that I got better FPS on Unigine and PUBG but my friend with a GTX 970 and same setup except that he had an OC CPU got better FPS on League of Legends and Overwatch with around 60+ fps

Could the FPS differ that much because of the Overclocking on CPU? Since we both have i5 4670k the CPU should not bottleneck yet he has better FPS where he shouldnt

Solution
More clocks (same cpu) will equal more fps as long as the gpu can keep up.
All is as it should be.
In the games where he runs lower his gpu is probably maxing out.

VSync is probably on or Gsync. It's limiting the frames produced by your GPU to avoid tearing. What resolution are you running on and is your monitor 60Hz? Go to NVidia control panel and under manage 3D settings > Global setting, scroll down and turn VSync off. (And GSync if you have a GSync monitor.)

It will show as more fps but the final result will be the same since your monitor can't show more than 60fps (since it's a 60Hz monitor)

What resolution are you running at and how many frames are you getting? Do they stay in a particular range of do the frames drop as time passes? What PSU are you using?

1920x1080, 120-180 FPS, It goes down mostly the more I play it seems like, Corsair CX750M 750W PSU. Also noticed that my GPU Usage is only at 50% when I play
