Hello, my motherboard is an ASUS Prime z270-ar and I was needing to backdate it to the bios that came with it when it was originally purchased. I believe that it was bios version 05. I cannot currently find that bios on the website and I have tried flashing it back to the oldest bios they have. That didnt fix my problem.

Problem I am having is that I have 4 pciex1 plugged into the board with no other pcie/m.2 slots being used. Before I updated the bios, it would recognize all 4 just fine, now it only recognizes 3 of the 4 at any given time. I have enabled 4g decoding and set all of the graphics stuff to gen 2/1 (tried both) and nothing seems to be helping.

try re-flashing the newest bios again and clearing your cmos afterwards. there is no such thing as "version 5". the oldest version is 0604. you may not have done anything at all.

Newest version is 0906 under the bios tab here:
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-Z270-AR/HelpDesk_Download/

you need to put that on a fat32 formatted usb drive or a cd and load it in your motherboards bios.

give us an update after that.

Tried that, still having the same issue. Also if you'll notice that the 0604 bios listed there is actually an update from the previous factory version. I am looking to get that particular version. 0504 I believe it was.

you're probably right, I don't see that anywhere.

you shouldn't need to change any bios settings that i'm aware of.

some ideas since you cleared the cmos:

is there one particular device or slot not working or does it change after a reboot?

Have you tried removing the other pcie devices and just booting with a working device? then did you move the working one to each slot to confirm they are all working?

I just did that, my 1 card works on all 7 slots, not sure about the m.2 though, but im not planning on using those.

As for the particular device, yes it is 1-2 devices that do not choose to activate after a reboot, they are the same devices and they do not change.

As for the motherboard disk, I tried loading that up, but it proved to be fruitless.
