This is my first ever overclock. I just followed some youtube vids on how to do it. How can I test if this is stable? I've run Cinebench R15 no problems with a score of 1205 and after running AIDA64 for an hour the CPU temperature sits at around 82 degrees. What's next?

Also, the CPU speed seems to jump intermittently every 20-30 seconds from1.55ghz up to 3.8ghz for a second or two, then back down to 1.55, is this normal?

So it sounds like things are running swimmingly for you. You can run benchmarks for a long time to assure stability, but I like to run some games and see how things go... Particularly if you have something that is CPU intensive...

I couldn't say for sure about the fluctuation in your CPU speed, but my first guess would be it drops to 1.55 when idle and then jumps to 3.8 when it needs to do something...

Thanks for the reply. I've since lowered the voltage to 1.30625v and it still seems to be working at 3.825ghz. Taking it up to 3.85ghz meant a large voltage and temperature increase and since I'm sticking with the stock cooler I figured 3.825ghz at 75ish degrees running Aida seemed sensible.

If a 24 hour run of Aida doesnt crash, can the OC be considered stable? Realistically, only extremely rarely will I ever hit max cpu usage in everyday use.
