How much longer do you think it will last?

Hi Members,

I am very surprised that the I7 4790k is still holding its own and still delivering great performance.

Really curious of how much longer it will last for intill an upgrade is needed due to games requiring more cores or the 4790k can't handle it.

I'm not sure if people are buying it over the other I7 quad cores.

I like to be prepared when an upgrade is needed.

I like to play the division, CSGO, total war etc..

Thanks peeps.

My 4770K with a mild OC to 4GHz is awesome at gaming. In Ghost recon Wildlands at 1080p I'm able to get 97.5% average GPU utilization on an overclocked gtx 1080 ti. I usually play at 4K though and at 4K I get 100% utilization at all times on the gpu. So this CPU isn't bottlenecking me at all really. I'd expect it to last just as long as a 7700K. In fact I'd say those CPU's will be obsoleted at the same time. When a game comes out requiring 6 cores is when that will happen.

Awesome, I was going to get the 5820k for the extra core but games haven't utilised 6 yet or only a few.

That's great to hear that I've got a few more yrs investment in the 4790k. The only issue is when it does become unplayable in games it's a new mobo, memory and water cooler solution even more money lol.
