I had an old gigabyte geforce6100pm motherboard that stopped working. This was mostly for the kids so i tracked down a j&w 6100 mobo to replace it. Problem is with the frontpanel wiring. None of the wires are marked and the colors do not correspond with the coloring on the panelconnecter on the mobo.

Colors on the wires are
1 white
1 red
1 orange
1 blue
1 green
2 black(actually 1 wire that is split into 2 pins)

The mobo coloring are as follows (starting at top left, working like one would read)
Blue(with a plus)
Blue (solid)
Blue (solid)
Red (solid)
Red (with a plus)
Next line
Blank(no pin)
Black(solid)
Black(with a plus)
Green (solid)
Green (with a plus)

Any idea which wires should go where?

I have tried putting color by colour but then it switches on for 2 seconds before ahutting down again.

Solution
That I can't know as I don't have that board and it doesn't follow any standards. Switches are just momentary so you can touch contacts (other than ones with polarity) with a screw driver and see what reacts. Only one pair would react by turning things on. Restart contacts will not do anything unless MB has booted.
AS for lights, if you put them wrong way around the just will not light because they are LED diodes and you can't burn anything.

I have managed to open the front panel without breaking anything. The wires running from the on button is the green, blue, black and orange. White and red comes from a led. Does that help?

It looks like it works now. Ended up with black on black (2nd one just taped up), orange on red, green on green, blue on second blue. Then just stuck red and white on red plus and green plus. Not sure if the led is showing at the right times but the on switch worka now and its not shutting down after 2 seconds. Thanks gor the assist Countmike
