Whats best a revodrive 3 card or M.2 card I have a PC with the revodrive 3 and its fast I use the drive as my boot C:\ drive and all other storage on a standard Hdd.
I also have a PC with an M.2 using same storage configuration boot drive M.2 and Hdd for storage.
But now I see there is Optane.
Need to know best option to build new PC using I5 7600. also MB recommendations for this.

its confusing as to which way to go.

Solution
m.2 is a size format.
It can be either sata based or pcie based.
Pcie based is faster in sequential, but otherwise comparable in random I/O

Today, optane tops out at 32gb and is intended as a cache for a hard drive.
It is debatable how useful that is.

For I5-7600, any B250 motherboard should do.
It can hold a m.2 pcie drive like the Samsung 960 m.2 evo.
(1/4 the price of your revodrive and 3x the sequential speed)
Technology has advanced.

Considering the lower cost of solid state, I would plan to put everything on a ssd excepting large sequential files such as videos.
get an m.2 ssd like the samsung 950 pro. pcie storage speeds are completely unnecessary for every day computing and gaming, especially for the price difference. its also a waste of money to purchase a pcie ssd on a middle of the line pc with an i5. you should put money into a better cpu first.

optane is useless with ssd drives. dont bother with it.
