4 + 4 pin connector fits 8 pin atx 12v even though pins are wrong shapes?

I have a GX 650W (http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/gx-series/gx-650w/) power supply and a GA-AB350-Gaming (http://uk.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AB350-Gaming-rev-10#kf) mobo.

While trying to install I noticed that the pins are the wrong shapes to fit the mobo atx 12v socket. I'm pushing rounded edge pins into square holes. It fits effortlessly, it's just the shapes don't match up. Does this matter?

the eatx 12 v connector that goes next to the cpu, can be 4 or 8 pins, you connect 4 or 8 as required

since the cable is divided into two 4 pis, you can use the first or the second if you want, the orientation is determined by the latch on the connector and the cable, as long as you can lock the connector it should be fine, the cable is just two 12v cabled and two grounds iirc, the other 4 pins is just the same, so as long it is connected with the right orientation, it should work

as you see is two yellow cables and two black in the same position for both sections, each yellow is 12v cable and you can put any of the two that locks better on the 4 pin connector, if you need both, join them and connect them with the latch in the center so it lock the connectors in place

don't confuse it with the gpu power connector, the 6+2
