crystal disk info says i have a disk error. it says caution. but windows 10 says i don't have any errors when I run a test. which one do I believe? I also ran a test with sea tools and it passed that test as well. I'm using a Seagate 1 tb mechanical hard drive.

the error in cristaldisk comes from S.M.A.R.T.

that is a system which informs the possible problems with arts inside the hard disk like platters, heads, surface, anything there

windows only cases for the partition

if cristaldisk says caution the only question to do here is, have you made backups? once a warning comes the time before loosing all your files could be soon so have a plan b, a backup here is a must, well, always, you must have backups of your important personal files in case the hard disk dies and stops working or anything happens with the pc

after that would be if the hard disk is old or still under warranty, if old, i would buy another and put that hard disk in storage as a plan d

seagate shows the basics, what someone could apply for a warrnty, usually after you lost files

cristaldisk goes beyond and warns of things it finds and are potential problems like errors reading, allocating sectors, stuff like that

what exact error is showing? can you post what you see there, upload the image to a image upload service and post the link on a reply here

also sea tools ran a full scan and a s.m.a.r.t test, I think that's actually more than what crystal disk info did. so ill settle with the fact that 2 different testing programs told me that everything is normal. and thanks for your help.

print screen and paint?

cristaldisk runs entirely smart tasks, so if it finds something i do believe it more than seagate crappy tools

anyway, you are asking lot but it seems you have doubts on the results, being right or wrong did you made a backup?
