Is the i7 6700K compatible with the G1 Gaming Sniper B6?

The title explained itself, i have a G1 Gaming Sniper B6 MotherBoard. Will the i7 6700K be compatible for my current MoBo? I'm switching from the i7 4770.

You would have to get a z170 for the 6700k but i would recommend getting the 7700k for the same price and a z270 mobo for overclocking. i would recommend using pcpartpicker to ensure compatibility

Oh damnit, Would a B7 do? I have to switch PSU too. Damn.

after looking at the cpu supported list for that mobo you are in luck

the i7-4790K is compatible after a bios upgrade

it is basically comparable to a 6700k or 7700k, so no need to change the motherboard

Wait, an i7 4790K is comparable to a 6700k? How so? They're 2 generations apart are they not?

the increase in performance within those generations is not great, and in fact is a running joke among many

since you can overclock it is irrelevant
