I have a 2.5 inch laptop HDD with windows 8.1 and other stuff on it and wondering if you can use it on a PC with windows 10 already installed and use the laptop HDD for additional storage.
Please only comment if you have experience or your 100 percent know the answer.
Thanks

OK. All you need to do is connect it to your PC with sata data and sata power. Boot into Windows making sure you're booting off the hard drive that was already in there (use boot menu if needed). Then Open diskmgmt.msc and delete all volumes on that disk. Then create a new one and assign a drive letter.

Simply, yes. You can just mount it in your case and connect (presuming it's sata) the sata data to your motherboard and sata power from the power supply. You will be able to use it without formatting it (keeping all of your data) but as it would still have windows and some programs left on it, you would have to format it to use all the space. Do you want to keep some of the data on it?

Thanks callywally, I have 2 more questions
1. When you said delete all volumes on that disk aka the laptop HDD does it erase everything on it if not then do you have to do a factory reset on the laptop it self?
2. Have you tried this before and did you encounter any errors?
Thanks again

Why would you have to factory reset? The laptop would have no memory especially if you delete all the volumes. You wouldn't be able to even turn laptop on w.out adding a HDD.

Your welcome.
There is no need to factory reset the laptop as deleting all volumes then creating a new one wipes it. I have done it a lot before only one had an error where it refused to create a new volume due to bad sectors. If the laptop was performing correctly then it should be fine and you won't encounter any errors.
