External enclosure for internal laptop hdd

Hi,
I have a Hitachi Z5K500 travelstar 500GB 2.5" HDD SATA 6Gb/s.

I had to take it out of my laptop and want to use it as an external HDD. Which enclosure would be best? Also, is it necessary to get usb 3.0? I don't mind low speeds and can work with 2.0 if its compatible with this HDD.

you dont need an enclosure if your using it at home unless you think you might abuse it/damage it

Oh trust me, its gonna get damaged cuz I am gonna be putting it in my backpack and other stuff so I definitely need an enclosure. It will be going places so yea, enclosure is a must.

Also, is usb 3.0 necessary? Or will 2.0 be fine cuz as i said, i dont care about the read and write speeds a lot.

USB 3 can provide more power, so with the right drive you don't need a power brick, just a USb3 port.

Yes but i have seen usb 2.0s provide 2 usb males, one for data and the other one for power so that i can put it in another port for power. But yes, i think 3.0 would be a safe bet.
