Hi i just bought and assembled a PC
i7700k
Gigabyte aorus gaming 5
hyper x fury DDR4 8 GB
Coolermaster Hyper 212x
MSI GTX 1060 6 GB
Corsair Graphite 780t
Corsair 750rm PSU

Question: My processor is showing 4500mhz and temp 49-50 degrees C in gigabyte mobo bios
.i think the processor is auto overclocked(not sure"confused") how could i disable the the
overclocking and my idle temp is 39 to 40 degree C in HW monitor software and 85-90
while playing games.is it ok coz for using it in this temp. and i confused bcoz my bios
temp is different from hw monitor software.Help GUYZ:??:

The 7700K runs at 4.5 GHz normally (Turbo Boost).

Your problem is your CPU cooler isn't good enough for the 7700K.

$40 cooler on a $300+ CPU?

You need a better CPU cooler like a Noctua NH U14S or NH U12S.

If overclocking in the future get a Noctua NH D15.

thnx will think about to buy that soon...but why temp is showing different in BIOS and HWMonitor??

It always does, that's normal.... Something in the 40's usually, nothing to worry about. Once Windows is up the software takes over and the temps go down.

He isn't overclocking, that's at stock and at like 1.212V.... Stock. The clock and voltage drops at idle, 800MHz and .744V

The 7700K runs at 4.5 GHz normally.

With a good cooler the 7700K will idle around 30C give or take a few degrees C.

And in gaming should be in the 60's.

That's with a good cooler...

It was 1.3v default i changed it to 1.2v but still getting the same temp..

Do you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard?

If not update it.

And reset to optimized defaults after.

And don't mess with the voltage.

The new BOIS has better voltage regulation so it will automatically be set as it should be.

You should be testing temperature with AIDA64 Extreme or Prime95, just run the test for 10-15 mins. I agree that lowering the voltage should help your temp a little. I'm using a Cryorig H7 with my 7700K and it does just fine even at stock voltage. Max 86C running Prime95.

I didn't want to mess with the voltage but didn't got any option and lots oftech guyz are telling it reduce temp.. ok will update the BIOS and check...but now after getting these temps i am little confused that did i put the wright amount thermal paste. lots of things are coming on mind

thanx will run the test and check...

Meh...

Don't mess with the voltage when running at stock, no need.

As far as temps go just get a good cooler, the BOIS update will fix the voltage.

The cooler is more of a budget cooler so don't expect a lot.

A better cooler will make a difference.
