The PC should still at least TURN ON with a few bent CPU pins right?

***new builder here, just trying to get clarity***

So I have the Gigabyte GA-B350N Gaming WiFi board, I plug everything where it is supposed to go, 24pin atx cable, 12v 8pin cable and so on. I'm clear on what goes where but when I turn on my power supply and press the power button...

Absolutely nothing happens, screen doesn't turn on, no LEDs light up, no fans spinning. Absolutely nothing happens.

I tested the power supply (wire inside the green/black pin holes method) and the fan turned on immediately so it can't be my power supply. (500w btw)

Now this is when I discovered I accidentally bent a few of my pins when I inserted my CPU originally (was going to resituate my CPU/GPU to see if that would trigger a boot) I straightened them out as best as I possibly could given my tools which was a flat head screwdriver (more or less an "eh ok" end result)

Now my question is, even with some bent pins and even in a wild case say faulty ram sticks, the PC should at least TURN ON, right? Not a single sign of life when all components are plugged in is pointing toward a broken motherboard no? Am I on to something or am I completely off base here? I'm trying to narrow down my issues, trying to avoid buying a new Ryzen 1600. I doubt bent pins would force them whole system to be unresponsive. Same for ram, GPU, and so on.

Can anyone confirm if this is a mobo issue or perhaps my PSU is not strong enough? (seriously doubt that, this is an ITX build using a ryzen cpu and a gtx 1070. More than enough power.) Maybe my PSU is not strong enough (read something about "setting the power supply voltage" but I don't know how to do this.)

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Hey there.

So a few days ago I encountered somewhat same problem when I bought a new gigabyte z270 k5.

I switched the PCU, GPU and other stuff from the old motherboard to the new one and absolutely nothing is happening.

I've built a few pc's so I'd like to say I know what I'm doing and I never dropped anything into the socket or hit it with something..

Well after checking that everything was correctly placed and that PSU was working I started to take everything off and that's when I noticed 2x not that much bent pins.

All the other components still work with my old mobo so I'm pretty confused if it can be those too pins that are causing that exactly nothing is happening when trying to turn on the pc.

There should be SOME sign of life. However...

Bent pins:
Before - No boot

After - boot success
