Why is data usage higher with streaming?

Does wireless streaming use more data than using Cat6 cable? I'm using Roku for PS Vue. My data usage has skyrocketed since streaming began in April. Does it make a difference in the amount of data usage if I use the Cat6 cable or not? I'm currently wireless.

As I said, check your WiFi connection and if you are getting full signal. Low signal means more lost packages that have to be resent until success. With wire you don't get any loss and you get lower ping too.

Ok thanks for your help. My data usage prior to streaming was very low and now is over 1024gb since April. Something's wrong ... just not sure what.

There is nothing wrong, you are just using more data because you are using more data. Streaming video/audio over the internet will use data.
