so i have a corsair psu 750w and i had a 1070 card when i bought my computer. after awhile i bought a 1080ti cause i needed a higher gpu for a better monitor and now every time im playiong a graphic intense game my computer will shut off and flicker lighs on the tower and will not turn on until unplug the power cord and re attach it. im thinking its a faulty psu cause it usually gets up to about 87c according to my monitor. not sure if its a faulty psu or my graphics card is just sucking to much power and i need anew one.

How are you monitoring your PSU temperature? Try downloading HWmonitor and comparing the temps. Are you sure you are not confusing this with the GPU or CPU temps? What ever it is that is hitting 90oC it is way to warm! What model of Corsair are you using?

I'd definitely go with Kenton's advice. Also, I had a similar issue with my PC, and it turned out the power cord was bad. If that doesn't work, perhaps that's another route you can try.
Good luck!

Ok, can you run the HWmonitor and report back the findings? I'm not sure that it is telling you the temp for your PSU though, as it has no way of sending the temp data to the O/S.

there doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the power source the voltage seems right so idk maybe its a faulty cord? but it seems to do it when im playing a game such a rainbow six or war thunder

Voltage is one thing, wattage and amperage are two other VERY important factors. I am still intrigued as to where you are getting the reports of 90oC temperature in the PSU from though. If those games are particularly demanding, then IF there is a fault with the PSU it would show up when it is pushed. Can you test with another PSU by chance??
