My PC is working as supposed, but when I try to play a game, I get low fps/tons of fps drops.

I'm trying to understand what is happening, but I just can't see a reason for this, maybe you guys can help me figure it out. I have a GTX 960 and a i5 4460 (IIRC), I can run every game I own on 60 fps @ 1080p. But today my PC decided that it wont do that anymore, for no apparent reason. My GPU is working as intended, low temps and all that, but the framerate is so much lower than normal. Overwatch, for example, used to run it at 69-70 all the time, now it's down to 30. I tried disconnecting everything, check every cable yet I can't fix it. Any ideas? I should say, this happened after I cleaned my CPU cooler fan and put on some new thermal paste.

First step would be to check to see if your graphics drivers are up to date. If they aren't, download and install the latest ones.

If they are, try lowering the settings in the games you're trying. Sometimes game updates bring changes that can lower fps. Maybe they'll patch it out in the near future.

Another thing to check: Look at your task manager while in-game. Are there any programs running in the background that could be using up your CPU?
