The motherboard does not affect gaming at all. Honestly the only things I would look for in a motherboard for a 1600 are:
Overclocking (supported by B350 boards)
Aesthetics
and
How many RAM slots (4 slots is best as you can run dual channel and have an upgrade path)
I got this for my 1600, as it was the only white motherboard I could find (that was mirco-ATX).

I generally prefer Asus boards as they are the most complete and reliable product overall without (or minimum) weird quirks.
As for your question, if you are not planning to overclock the CPU, any B350 board with features that you need will do the job.
If you plan to push the system to the limit (CPU and memory clocks), for a 6 core, you'd be better with decent X370 board.
Bonus answer: MB does not affect gaming directly - it affects the features that your system have, it affects the system stability and it affects how far the system can be pushed with overclocking. Lifespan is also a factor - good MB will last much longer.
