So I have found lately that my computer is struggling to play games that are graphic intense. I pretty sure my computer should be able to play these games. I worried that something is wrong with my computer. Like a couple of days ago I was playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist and it was lag spiking like crazy. One minute its running 60fps easy and then all of a sudden it drops to around 30fps and lower (15-20fps) pretty much unplayable, then continues to lag spike out of control. I lowed the graphics with no luck on changing the issue. I tried Borderlands 2 that I know can run on my computer as I played it about a year ago with no issues and 60fps. Unfortunately this too lag spikes all over the place but not as much as Splinter Cell, gets around 40-50 fps but should easily be able to run it at 60fps.
Ive tried dusting my computer components as they were dusty, but with no change in performance.
I made sure the power options is on High performance and dusted it.
I have no idea what I can do please help me as I would like to play games without the lag. If I need to upgrade some components that's fine.

Solution
82c is too much. I have the Phenom x6 1055T and was around 70-80 at one time. Repplied thermal paste and it was down at around 40-50c.
I would recommend you to reapply thermal paste. And remember, with thermal paste, less is more.... Follow the instructions on how to apply it.

Use HWmonitor or MSI Afterburner to check the usage on all hardware while playing games.

If your CPU gets high temp, you might need to reapply thermal paste. Because it will degenerate over time

Thanks for that, I already had HWmonitor. I used it and it's displaying(copy and pasted from HWMonitor save file):

Temperature 0 82 degC (179 degF) [0x52] (TMPIN0)
Temperature 1 37 degC (98 degF) [0x25] (TMPIN1)

Here it's not displaying each core's temp:

Temperature 0 0 degC (32 degF) (Core #0)
Temperature 1 0 degC (32 degF) (Core #1)
Temperature 2 0 degC (32 degF) (Core #2)
Temperature 3 0 degC (32 degF) (Core #3)
Temperature 4 0 degC (32 degF) (Core #4)
Temperature 5 0 degC (32 degF) (Core #5)

I take it that 82*C is a lot?

I have ordered some thermal paste and is arriving tomorrow, hopefully this will help. At the moment is getting worse and worse. I can't even play Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War without it lagging out and having weird audio crackling sounds like its about to crash at any moment.
I ran a virus scan and malware software, found around 2000 unsafe files on my computer. I took those out and hasn't helped in the slightest.
So hopefully the thermal paste will help a lot, enough to play games again.
