Should I upgrade my AMD A8-5500 to an Athlon X4 860K?

Hi. I recently purchased an RX 550 for my PC and was considering upgrading the CPU to handle games at low graphics settings. I have enough money to purchase an Athlon X4 860K but I'm not sure if I would benefit from upgrading or not.

Specs right now:
AMD A8-5500
ASUS A55BM/USB3
ASUS RX 550 2GB
4 GB RAM (gonna upgrade)

Games I primarily want to play:
GTA 5
Rocket League
Overwatch

The A8-5500 can turbo boost up to 3.8 GHz, by the way.

Thanks!

the idea would be to get the fastest one, the x4 880k, it has highest clockspeed, if you think you cant overclock this would be important, then that one is more desirable n that situation

if you can't find it or is too expensive, then the x4

but remember that none of these are the ideal ones to play games this days, i can tell you that because i have it here, it does work very well, but is not perfect and that is why i mention a change of motherboard, ram and cpu

since the gpu you got is more or less powerful, do consider to buy the heatsink for the x4 if you decide to buy it, i had to buy it last week and got almost completely silent operation and great temperatures, i was starting to experience thermal throttling thanks to the...

just form specs, the x4 860k runs at 3.7ghz on all 4 cores and can do turbo well over the limit of your a8

also if you buy the x4 the idea is overclock it, to 4 or 4.2ghz but there you need a decent mainboard to overclock, it would be ideal

the a8 can do turbo, but for 1 core only, gta v needs 4 fast cores, not only one

the logic would point to yes, update, but if it is expensive i would instead consider a full upgrade, to a new cpu, new mainboard and new ram

i have that x4 and is decent at 900p with a gt1030, which is more or less the rx550 but i had to buy a cooler for it, because the one that comes in the box, once load is applied sounds like a driller, the fan is unbearable, i installed a tx3 evo, also add the 4 gbs of ram, gta v asks for 8, more if you can add

I don't think I'd be able to overclock on the board. Would an X4 845 make any difference from the 860k? (apart from no overclocking)
