Window 7 was just installed maybe 6 months back (prob. less not sure) & I got slowness coming up not long after... It is Windows so I figured it was normal windows rot, then more recently had a feww times explorer didn't respond & then booted up then went to W& from my bootloader menu chose 7 just lcame back to menu... Ok, I choose Linux, get in ioen Goart & it shows... It appears dead...

If you previously Upgraded from Win 7 to 10, you don't need your original Win 7 license.
Just install 10, and skip entering the license key.
It will activate itself when it goes online.

did you ran checkdisk on the partition, i don't recommend you to run from linux that tool, there is many tools to run checkdisk

also did you managed to take the files out of the hard disk or can't be mounted from linux?

if you have a linux installed there, can you run gsmartcontrol? some distros have it, is a tool similar to cristaldisk info, it will offer details of errors it might find, to know if the partition is the problem or the hard disk itself

if is the partition, checkdisk should help you

if gsmartcontrol find lots of errors relocating, time to get another hard disk

I did GSC, it is dead, installed win10, figured might as well upgrade... The win7 key I used with the free upgrade didn't work this time... Don't really want to give MS $100 for a key...
