C++:
I'm buying a Gigabyte GTX 1080 G1 Gaming 8GB and I don't know much about installing new graphics cards.

I know how to physically switch out my current graphics card for a new one, but do I need to do anything else?

Notes:
- I have GeForce experience downloaded for updating my GTX 970.
- My PC was prebuilt.
- My current graphics card is a ASUS GTX 970 4GB.

It's as simple as that, just switch them up, slot, cables and everything else. ( With the PC off, of course )

But make sure of two things beforehand
- Do you have enough space inside your case to accommodate the bigger 1080?
- Is your PSU good enough to supply power to the 1080?

If both are yes, then is just a matter of switching them and update your video drivers just like you're used to.

Pretty simple.

1) Turn off
2) unplug
3) open case
4) remove old card
5) install new card
6) plug back in
7) power up.
8) close up case if no major issues.
9) reinstall drivers. (Be prepared to clean out any previous driver installs if you run into issues with this.)

EDIT:
Most pre-built computers come with crappy power supplies. let us know what brand, model, and power rating your current PSU is, so you can protect your investment.

Also as stated, make sure it will fit in your case.

My PSU is a Corsair 550 watt.

That will likely be fine. Gigabyte recommends at least 500W for that video card.

Builder, VS, CX, CXM, RMx? There are a lot of Corsair PSU models, some are great others are utter garbage.
Which exact model do you have? Total wattage or even if it's 80+ doesn't mean near as much as you'd think.

I wouldn't put my brand-new 1080 in a bad PSU that has the chance of damaging it.

I have a VS550

Not even nearly their best. Using a GTX-1080 with it might be pushing it too close to its rated power rating, where this budget (and low end) PSU could easily die. While it isn't death trap material, it's much closer to it than, say an AX 650.

What psu do you recommend? Has to be under 100-150 dollars

There are plenty in the U.S. that are under $100 to choose from, unfortunately this doesn't always hold up within another country.

Here's a pretty good selection, although I can't say much (due to unfamiliarity) with the Corsair SF line. The CS line isn't the best either, but it is better than the VS line.

However, say in India, the cost isn't an even exchange.

Europe is better, but availability and exact pricing can still depend on what country you're in and purchasing from.
