Random keys on Laptop keyboard not working

Hello, I've been having some issues with my keyboard lately. Sometimes some of the keys on the keyboard are not working. I've checked for crumbs (taken them off and put back on again) blown the computer off with a compressor (Not a high powered one), But nothing is seeming to work. The keys on question is the "8" on my Numpad, the letter "p" on my keyboard, this " ' " and some others that sometimes work and sometimes don't.
Now if you've gotten to this point you might have noticed I've been using all the characters I have just complained of having troubles with. I found a workaround that sometimes works; I have to press the key next to the bad one at the same time I try to press the bad one. (So to type "p" I have to write "op" then erase the o. This goes for all the bad keys.)

Does anyone have any ideas/solutions? This has been going on for about a month now with it going away then coming back from time to time. I haven't noticed any similarities in what I'm doing when it starts.

Almost forgot to mention I have the MSI GL72-6QF

Sorry, forgot to reply. The ones that I have worked on, the keyboard flips out and there's a ribbon cable right underneath that connects into the mainboard of the laptop. That would be my first suspect. If you reseat the cable & still nothing, just pick up a replacement keyboard on Ebay - they typically go for $15-25.

I'd send a picture but Photobucket doesn't do links anymore.

The obvious question..did your run a virus and malware scan, did you by chance spill anything on the keyboard? can you try hooking up another keyboard via usb and when your laptop is acting up try the external keyboard.

The laptop keyboard is replaceable, something that's not much fun and should only be done when you have confirmed it has failed.

Yes I have run the malware scans. I can't recall anytime I have ever spilled anything on my keyboard. The USB keyboards work fine, but are very inconvenient to use when taking my Laptop into class.

I suggested the external keyboard only as a means to possibly troubleshoot, not an alternative to the built in, sorry if that wasn't clear

I don't see any exposed internals, any idea where the ribbon cable is?

Ahh ok, if the USB keyboard had the same issues would it be a driver error or something?
