Do I need a modem if i only need lan

So i got a service provider but i dont need wifi just lan do i still need a modem? do i need anything else? im buying a 100mbps package from xfinity

Xfinity will require a modem because the service will be delivered via coax. You need some hardware to convert that to ethernet. That would be a modem. IF you have multiple devices to connect to that ethernet you also need a router. Even if you only have one device to connect, I recommend a router to protect your PC. There are 100s of attacks on every public IP address every day. Your router can better defend against those, than can your Windows computer.
