Same Wifi problems even after replacing adapter

I have had a custom built PC for about a year, and recently I've been experiencing a problem with the Wifi connection. Previously the Wifi would connect to my network but disconnect as soon as I attempted to use it. Presently the problem is different. Rather than disconnecting, the Wifi stays connected, but delivers incomprehensibly slow speeds. A problem with my wifi card has most likely been ruled out as I upgraded the card from an Asus PCE N-15 to a Rosewill RNX-AC1900PCE about a week ago and the problem had not changed. Any help is much appreciated, thanks much!

Yeah, there's a laptop in a room next to mine that receives somewhere near 3mbps up and down, both are probably a good 20 feet from the router through about 6 different walls. I rebooted both the modem and the router and installed the new card's drivers off of the CD it came with.

That is a lot of walls from the router, try testing it closer and see how it works. Try changing the channel of the WiFi in the router, see if either 2.4 or 5 ghz bands work better. Are you sure it's only about 20 feet from the router? Seems like a lot of walls for only 20 feet. 6 walls means 3 rooms, which should be more like 60 feet or more.

Yeah, 20 feet was a pretty poor estimate, in reality it's probably about 40 feet. I hooked up my pc right next to the router and am getting great speeds, but the fact that i once was getting these speeds in my room and am now unable to even browse the web in my room seems kind of strange. Nothing changed with my PC or with my modem or router within my knowledge...

Try connecting to both the 2.4 and 5 signals, try changing channels on the router. If the system works fine closer to the router (not plugged into the ethernet port, on wireless) then you could simply have interference.
