I purchased a brand new Dell Inspiron 15 7579 laptop a week ago and I was I surprised when I looked at the C drive and found a "Windows.old" folder in it. Isn't this folder only supposed to be there if there was an upgrade from windows 8 to windows 10? Or if a factory reset was made? I contacted dell and they said that a new laptop should not have a windows.old folder in it. I also contacted the retailer that sold me the laptop and they said that this is normal since Windows 10 did an update right out the box to Windows 10 creator, the newest version of windows 10. I'm thinking that this laptop was previously owned by someone else and was returned, so Dell re packed it and sold it as new.
Is this a normal scenario or should I exchange my laptop for a different one? Thank you.
