I want to build a new gaming PC with only 600$ and I'm considering between an old haswell processor like i7-4770 (non K processor b/c I dont need overclock) with a skylake or kaby lake processor. I intend to have some upgrades after a few years and Im wondering whether a strong + powerful haswell cpu goes with an old motherboard( H81) still worth to try or I should buy a weaker skylake or kaby lake CPU instead but those are easy to upgrade ?

Anw, here is my specification :
CPU core I7 4770
Ram DDR3 4g/1600
VGA gtx 950 or 960
HDD WD 1TB
PSU FSP HYN - 450

Is this a pc you already own with a 4770 cpu? Or one you're intending to buy or build? If you already own the i7 it should still be fine in most games for another couple of years. Consider upgrading ram to 8gb and depending on the games you play you may want a better gpu. If you upgrade the gpu you may need a new psu with higher wattage to run it.

If you're looking to build this from used parts then it depends on local pricing. Older cpu's may not be as hard to come by but older motherboards may not be very cheap. Newer motherboards are easier to upgrade because their processors are more current but it also means buying ddr4 ram and you still need at least 8gb for many games. 4gb of ram often isn't enough. You'll also need to...

You'll also need to reinstall windows with a new motherboard. You could go with a weaker cpu for now but if you won't be upgrading again for a long time then stronger cpu's which are current now and would be good upgrade options will be older cpu's by the time you upgrade. Depending how long you wait they could become harder to find.

although the haswell range still has a good few years of life left in it, if you're on a budget, I'd recommend you save just a little bit more and get yourself a Ryzen setup.

For around $700-$750 you could get a great R5 1600X rig with lots of headroom for future upgrades
