Hello i'll buy a second hand Q6600 with the motherboard the guy has it O.C. to 3.8 ghz i can always lower the ghz but i want to know will my 300w psu be able to handle that ?

Solution
If there the GPU is either really low power, or non existant, then yes, but I would really upgrade to some 400+ W one.
I assume that is a stock OEM PSU, those are fairly tough, it would likely take it for a while but its power output during that time would likely not be very clean, and it is just a bad idea in general.

It depends on what else is in the system, but 300w is pushing it with more than the most basic video card. I would guess a Q6600 with that OC is drawing somewhere between 150w and 200w alone. Set aside 30-50w for the motherboard and you're not left with much - and bear in mind, a 300w PSU is not 300 watts all on the 12v rail.

how about 3,2 or 3,0 ghz is it enough ?

The problem is not only the Watts but also how many amps it can deliver.

My personal opinion: even with the GPU non existant I would NOT do it.
This is because the 300W are most likely for the entire system where you have to factor hard drives, optical drives, fans, GPU....

Check on the PSU how many watts it can deliver in 12V rails and combined to get a general idea of how many watts it actually can deliver to the CPU.

the problem lies with many of those power supplies using multiple 12 volte rails, depending on how it is connected to your motherboard yo might not be able to get more than one rail rating the CPU.
Those stock PSUs are designed to last as long as possible with what comes in the PC. a 3.2GHz OC is already gong to be drawing more power than any headroom they likely designed it for. A good power supply is not something to pass on.

Gateway used to offer QX6700 systems overclcoked to which was 3.2GHz. QX6700 were all the lower B3 stepping so probably OK there.
That being said I agree a good PSU is #1 for overclcoking, An aftermarket single rail PSU will throw power wherever you need it. An OEM PSU might have the power, but not direct it where your using it.
