Hello! Since this forum has been very helpful. I thought i'd give it another go.

So basically as I have mentioned in a previous post I am doing a PC "revamp".
Currently I have a MSI GTX 760 2 GB OC Twin Frozr gpu.
It is still decent but I would like to get better performance .
I will be playing at 1080p. And here is a bunch of games I would like to play high/ultra settings.
Far Cry 5
Assassin's Creed Unity
Battlefield 1
Watch Dogs 2
and any newer/upcoming Triple A games.

Im willing to buy used to get better performance. Since as of right now the prices aren't the best.
200-417€ budget.
I have noticed that even a GTX 1050 outperforms my GPU.
Answers will be appreciated greatly! Thanks.

Would prefer NVIDIA since i never really liked AMD's drivers.

Still running your 3770K?

To (near) guarantee High/Ulra at 60+FPS 1080p for those titles and near future titles, I'd suggest no less than a 1070. But that might be a little over budget

And, also tough to justify when a 1080 is <100EUR more!

If you just want "playable" 30+FPS, then a 6GB 1060 should do just fine.

Also, if you're still running with 8GB DDR3 (as per your specs), I'd suggest an upgrade to 16GB in the near future.

There would be very miniscule performance difference between your current GTX 760 and a GTX 1050 (http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-760-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1050/2159vs3650) that it is not worth the "upgrade".

Since you are coming from a GTX 760 and wish to play those games in 1080p high/ultra (~60hz), consider getting the GTX 1060-6GB for your given 417€ max. budget:

The GTX 1060-6GB will be a subtiantial and significant increase (2x increase) in graphics performance coming from your current GTX 760 (http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-760-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1060-6GB/2159vs3639).

The GTX1050Ti hasn't been effected by mining much, it is a decent choice. I suggest shopping around in the used market if you want something more powerful. You aren't going to be able to pick up a reasonably priced mid-range card though.

Honestly, you should hold off a few months if you can get away with it. The Mining craze should start dying down again, too many people raises the difficulty, and then GPUs become a losing proposition. Then everyone will be trying to sell them and you might be able to pick up a GTX1060/1070 for a reasonable price (or RX580, if you can convince yourself to change)

If you want to play AAA games at 1080p on high/ultra settings I would not get a 1050. I would go with a GTX 1060 or a RX 580. Those GPUs are high right now, but I suspect the used market to have some really good pricing in the next month or two. Since the mining craze has dried up the GPU market, miners are going to be looking to see their GPUs as Etherium keeps going down in price. Simple economics says that when supply is high and demand is low, then the price will drop. This will happen in the GPU market.

@Barty1884 Yep still the i7-3770k. I mean it's aged pretty well.

The cards im thinking of right now are
1060/1070
RX 570/480
But ofc , i can upgrade in the future as well. What are your thoughts on these cards?
I'd prefer a gpu with at least 4GB or in the 970's case 3.5GB of VRAM.
But the estonian market is very weird , a 980 ti costs 766 euros while a 1080 ti costs 763 0.o ... or i don't know what the pricings are these days. Either one.

Yeah the 3770K is still a quality chip.

A 6GB 1060 is all you can do within budget, as far as I can tell at least. It's not going to do 60+FPS consistent in all titles though (but close).

A Founders Edition, direct from nVidia gets you really close the a 1070 within budget (at 429EUR)

I assume from a proximity standpoint, you could buy from Sweden? Just a guess of course.
https://www.nvidia.se/graphics-cards/geforce/pascal/gtx-1070/
4399 SEK / 460EUR for a 1070...... when it's in stock.

AIB partners are charging more though (as always)

4,699 SEK is the best I'm seeing (491EUR)

Like I mentioned I am willing to buy used , so brand new prices don't mean that much to me.

A 980TI sits somewhere between a 1060 and 1070 (nearer 1070 territory), but at those prices, it's impossible to justify.

Unless you can find a 970 or 980 for substantially less than a 1060, a 6GB 1060 would be the best option (within budget).

I think pushing the budget a little to acquire a 1070 would be the best option in the long run though (if possible, of course).

Please define "substantially less" 30?50?100?

What that means exactly, will vary person to person.

My personal view on it would be to take the expected cost of a 6GB 1060 (310EUR approx from nvidia) and a 1070 (429EUR, again from nvidia) and use that as a starting point.

So, if you can find a 980TI for around the cost of a 6GB 1060 (so, maybe up to 350EUR), then I would go for it. Near 1070 performance for ~20% less.

A 980 is a bit better than a 6GB 1060. But a 1060 would be new, with warranty. So I'd maybe do a 10% tradeoff (ie the 980 would need to be 10% cheaper to justify.... again, this is my perspective). GTX 980 for ~280EUR... arguably, worth it.

A 970 is a tough one. It's somewhere right around a 3GB 1060 performance-wise. Considering a 3GB 1060 is generally around 20-25% cheaper than a 6GB variant (310EUR - 25% = 233EUR), I'd suggest it would need to be even cheaper to justify. Probably ~200EUR would be my absolute max price I'd suggest to pay for a 970...... even then, it's pretty tough to justify IMO.

I you are planning on hanging on to this GPU for awhile, I would not get a 970. I am not saying it is a bad GPU, in fact it has been the most commonly used GPU on steam until a month or two ago. But in a year it will show its age. I would avoid any card that I plan on keeping for awhile that has less than 4gb. While 3/3.5gb may be enough today, games will continue to push hardware harder and there will be a time when the 970 cant keep up.

This is why I would start my search with the 1060 6gb or the 580. I would not pay more for a used 980ti than I would for a used 1070, because they are very similar in performance.
