If i buy a Ryzen CPU now, will i have to upgrade my CPU when DDR5 comes out or do i only need to switch out my motherboard?

Solution
The spec release of DDR5 is slated for 2018, with an actual launch in 2020.

In all likelihood, you'll need a new CPU (and Mobo) to support DDR5.

The lifespan of a DDR revision is generally somewhere between 3-7 years based on history. (DDR 2000-2003, DDR2 2003-2007, DDR3 2007-2014, DDR4 2014-Present) by the time DDR5 is to launch (2020) we'll be well into 6 years of DDR4 and 3 years into Ryzen. Only on rare occassions is there support for more than one standard, and those are generally products released on the cusp of newer techs widespread adoption (within 12 months or so).

Given Ryzen launched about 3 years before DDR5 is set to launch, I highly doubt there's DDR5 support planned.

I would anticipate a solid possibility...

I would anticipate a solid possibility for products in the ~2019 enterprise chips lines "GRey Hawk" or "River Hawk" to have DDR5 compatibility.

You would have to change all. Why are you asking about DDR5? Intels Cannonlake CPU's coming next year dont even support DDR5. Demo's of the new RAM aren't until June 2018. You probably will not see DDR5 in systems until 2019 at the earliest.
