Hey guys I decided to finally build my first PC. So I did some research and then started ordering my parts on Amazon to my surprise I noticed that the SSHD I ordered was for laptops and that it was 2.5 inches and not 3.5 inches. Is this a big problem? I am getting a phantek p400 case and it has 2 2.5 inch bays could I just install the SSHD there and would it work? Or should I return the item as soon as possible?

Solution
Not a problem.
1) 2.5" SSH/HDs use only the +5V while a 3.5" HD uses both the +5 and +12V. BOTH voltages are available on the SATA power connector. Both 2.5" and 3.5" SATA Drives all use identical SATA power/data connection.
2) Performance is generally better on the 3.5" HDs. This is normally due to the larger disk platters and higher RPMs.
3) 2.5 Inch HDs are generally more rugged.

That said, All my desktops use a 2.5" drive (SSD) for the OS/Program drive. Only use HDDs for storage/backups.
P.S. 2.5" SATA SSDs are same as HD except MUCH faster for faster especially for small file random access reads/writes.
