My cpu is a i3 4160 and recently i realised that the temperature of the cpu is quite high after comparing it to some sources online, my cpu runs at average 40-50 degrees when im doing nothing (not even chrome is open), 50-60 degrees when i start watching youtube and sometimes the core #0 even goes to 70-75 degrees if i watch youtube while on twitter.

I reapplied the thermal paste 1 week back and the cpu cooler seems to be sitting proper as well, so what exactly might be the problem? The room temperature is around 28 degrees on average.

My cpu cooler is a stock cooler that i let run on its own default settings and i have 1 front intake fan and 1 rear exhaust fan only. There is also no GPU in my setup because it is currently in repair.

Has anyone has similar problem? Because im quite a hardcore gamer that plays like 8-10 hours a single sitting, so if now the temp is already at 60+, if i play games wouldnt it reach dangerous temps?

Solution

A die is what makes a CPU and a GPU.Since your i3 CPU has a inbuilt intel HD GPU inside thats why both cpu and GPU used to heat up and give high temp. Before when you had your Graphics card, only the i3 CPU used to run(your inbuilt Intel HD GPU was disabled) and your GPU used to run separately on a graphics card and as a result your CPU would run cooler

Inside your processor "chip" there are actually 2 processors - a central processing unit (CPU) and a graphics processing unit (GPU sometimes referred to as a iGPU for integrated graphics processing unit). Using both processors generates more heat than when you are only using the CPU and the iGPU is disabled.
