Howdy people. :)

For years now I have been wondering what all the different 3D settings are in the Nvidia Control Panel.

Is it best to use the 3D applications own settings or will it benefit from configuring these settings.

If so... which of these settings will make games look better?

Can all of the settings be turned on at the same time? If not... which settings can be used together, which settings must be used on their own?

I know that the affect of the settings will be dependant on which hardware is being used and which games are played. I'm just after a sort of general explanation of all the settings and the improvements and/or disadvantages that each setting has.

I'm aware that this could take a lot of explaining and therefore won't be upset if no one replies.

If any of you feel up to the task that would be awesome and a massive, huge thanks in advance. :)

you can turn on everything and marvel at what you see (if you have a display screen good enough). looking good and feeling good are also slightly different things. the more you make your card do, the hotter it will get, hence fans. that heat goes somewhere .... normally into your room. a big room, well ventalated room, you wont feel uncomfortable, but if you live inside a box like me, its gonna get warm.

best to leave settings at: application controlled. that means the game settings can adjust the card performance. you can immediately see the affect the settings have on how the game looks from with-in the game itself.

if you like to gain fps at the cost of sharp edges ... turn off AA. at 2k+ res you wont notice if AA is on or...

Hi SoggyTissue. :)

Thanks very much for your post.

I have a 49" 4K HDR TV. However I usually play my games @ 1920x1080. I can turn up most of the settings to ultra/very high with 2k. I prefer to run at 2k with ultra/very high settings rather than at 4k with lower settings.

I'll see if I can notice a difference with AA turned off. Thanks for the tip. :)
