I am going soon to Europe and want to know if I can use my phone with there pre payed sim cards? I need to know cuz I need data. If I found out that i can't use my phone there ill have to buy a cheep phone from there and loose data option i guess. If not I gotta just get a expensive roaming plan.
I checked a couple of providers and it's so damm cheep there. I pay prob 4x as much as i pay here. But it's prob slower.
I bought my phone from eb games unlocked.

If your Samsung G5 is unlocked, then no problem installing a local sim card. I would suggest to stick with the major telecomm providers in the countries you're traveling in, i.e. Vodafone, Orange, O2, etc. Have the mobile phone store person install the sim for you and call your mobile phone to make sure it's working correct. Also, check that you're getting data - browse an web page.

Another thing to do is to download an app called AppSwitch. This app allows you to control which apps are allowed to use data. For instance, I always turn off Facebook because it's such a mobile data hog. Then, only use Facebook when on wifi. Last, download apps that don't require live cellular data. I use Maps.me, instead of Google Maps and tube/metro apps...

Like I said I want to know if my phone will work there with there phone provider's sim. It's unlocked. Only saying a guy from work was telling me he had a hard time with his iphone and ended up getting a cheep phone also. But thats a guy from work. THey say alot of stuff. lol.
Otherwise ill just get a plan here. I already looked up the roaming plans already.
If I phone the providers and ask questions they will pressure me in getting there plan.

I think you should check with Samsung since different countries use different standards. Eg, European countries (ESTI) are different from American (ANSI). The mobile manufacturers should have a better sense.

Besides, I would not recommend the cheap package for data unless it is a special deal provided by big telecom operators for tourists. 'Cause many times some virtual operators provide cheap package. But signals are not very good.
