I am now using the Sandy Bridge H61MA-D2V and i5-2400.
I also have the latest beta Bios.
I want to upgrade the cpu to e3-1230 v2 for future VR gaming.
But when I look for the CPU support list http://www.gigabyte.com.au/Motherboard/GA-H61MA-D2V-rev-20#support-cpu
It support Ivy Bridge cpu, but there are no Xeon v2 series cpu listed.
I look for other H61 chipset of gigabyte, The Xeon v2 series also is not included in the list.
I worry about Does it support E3-1230 v2 for Gigabyte H61 chipset?

I have seen other brand (e.g. Asus) H61 support Xeon v2, are there anything special for gigabyte?

Thank you in advance for any replies!

PS: or Should I buy e3-1280 v1 instead? the price is similar for second-hand cpu

I take the risk and have a try on the CPU, it supports the E3 v2 series !!
Hope this information useful for those who have Gigabyte H61 motherboard.

Ps: Also, my e3-1240v2 has a score 1790 in cpu-z in my case, that is still a great performance in 2017.

RE MrN1ce9uy

Yes, I have just contact them and waiting for answer.
I7 3770 is good but cost 300 HKD more (42 USD).
It may be a good suggestion if e3-1230v2 do not support.
Anyway, thank you for the reply

I have the replies from gigabyte :

"Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. About the issue you mentioned, the CPU you mentioned is not in the CPU support list. We are not able to guarantee it works well in our motherboard. We suggest you to use the CPU which is listed on our CPU support list."

Which does not mention directly that e3 v2 series will not be supported. They said that they cannot guarantee it work only.
I think I can take the risk to try using e3-1230v3 because i have seen one sucessfull case on youtube.
